DirecTV has had better mornings. Google sent a shiver down the collective backs of cable television executives worldwide with news of their desire to purchase the rights to NFL's Sunday Ticket at the end of 2014. Nothing will hasten cord-cutting nationwide quite like the streaming of every NFL game online.
DirecTV needs to re-assess how valuable Sunday Ticket is towards their entire business strategy if they want to be here in 5 years. I can already stream nearly every sporting event with FirstRowSports, it just isn't convenient. Once this technology is more user friendly, television will be exclusively provided by the Interwebs. My advice to DirecTV is not to bite the hand that feeds you. Being #1 in sports is meaningful, but without Sunday Ticket, it may as well be just another Dish Network with no Hopper.
