I just watched League of Denial, the documentary on the NFL denying the link between concussions and long term brain trauma. The NFL has never been portrayed in a worse light. The analogy to Big Tobacco denying the link between smoking and lung cancer is a genuinely fair comparison. The NFL has done everything in its power to deny the link, discredit medical examiners, lie or plead the fifth in front of Congress, shun medical evidence, and skimp on paying for the medical expenses of debilitated, disabled ex-players. The recent $765M settlement is a joke considering the total of 4500 ex-players in the lawsuit and the refusal of the league to admit any guilt. Goodell's rehearsed non-answers to Congress & countless journalists make him look like a very polished yet empty suit. Additionally, the NFL demanding ESPN drop out of the documentary only adds to the salaciousness of the story.
