The New York Times did a nice
write-up on basketball legend Bill Sharman. Some of his career highlights include being a double All-American at USC. He was playing professional baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league system from 1950-55, simultaneously playing professional basketball for the Washington Capitals in 1950-51 and the Boston Celtics from 1951-1961. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and coach, and his accolades were too long so see below. If all of that wasn't enough, he actually invented the shoot-around to burn off nervous energy before the game. Oh yeah, and he fought in the Navy in World War II from 1944-46.
