The battle for the starting QB job at USC is still in doubt with less than two weeks until the game versus Hawaii. Although Max Browne has been ruled out and will most likely redshirt, Cody Kessler & Max Wittek seem to be neck and neck. This is not very reassuring to the Trojan faithful, who still have a bitter taste in their mouth from the Wittek's Sun Bowl "performance."
I've been following Wittek since he was in high school, and the similarities between him and John David Booty are too much for me. They both were incapable of putting any touch under the ball, and the predictable turnovers are unacceptable. Kessler has much more touch on his passes, but his arm strength is lacking. Given the option, I would choose Kessler. He reminds me of a shorter Matt Leinart, who had far less arm strength and was a Heisman trophy winner. We'll see how it plays out over the next week. You never know with LFK.
